Moving between mind and body, clay and breath, moving in circles shaping clay outward.
Every still starting point comes from nothing, deep frictions of earth layers, moving, shaping, joining. I am doing the work of ancient soil and soul forming.
My work in progress of a series of Earth prayer bowls shaped out of wild harvested clay slips and local grogs and clays from Hungary, as part of a residency exploring the Earth element at @icshungary. I intend to install these bowls in a variety of natural landscapes in south Hungary as a series of outdoor land installations
Each bowl is a prayer, an offering, a receptive vessel of earth. My earth prayer bowls are taking shape, rotating and coming to life as part of my fourth and final residency of a Developing Your Creative Practice project. I can’t wait to see how these folds and forms of wild harvested natural clay, local Hungarian grog and local clay and rocks from the place of my childhood in South Africa evolve into after their first firing coming up soon.
